Grayling indicates support for Keith Williams
TRANSPORT secretary Chris Grayling has signalled his support for reducing the railway responsibilities of the DfT, as set out in principle by Rail Review chairman Keith Williams over the past couple of days.
Mr Grayling is giving evidence to the Transport Committee. He said: ‘I think the Department should do much less. There are too many places in the industry where things fall between the cracks, and that’s what happened last year. The railway is too fragmented. I had seen that, but I was wary about imposing about too much change. However, it is revolution not evolution which is needed now. We have got to find a way of de-complexing the big projects. The biggest challenge for us now, though, is climate change.’
