FIRST ScotRail’s human resources team has won a major award in the prestigious ASA HR Excellence Awards.

Fiona Irvine, HR director of First ScotRail, and her team won the Large Business category for companies of more than 2,000 people.

The awards recognise the best in human resources management in Scotland.

The award is the second accolade for Fiona within six months. She was named HR Director of the Year at the inaugural HR Network Scot-land Awards 2007.

Fiona, whose mantra is that staff are key to driving the business forward, said: “People are our only asset and staff involvement at all levels is critical to the delivery of great customer service.”

Successful initiatives spearheaded by Fiona and her team include an on-line recruitment system, a new employee benefits scheme and the delivery of 13,000 training days a year – three times as many as before.
