Passenger taken to hospital after Chester collision
A MAN was taken to hospital after a Virgin Super Voyager diesel unit with about 100 passengers on board collided with buffers at Chester station just after midday today.
In a statement, Virgin Trains said the collision was a 'very low speed impact between the train and the buffer stop on platform 1. No other train was involved.'
The man taken to hospital had been a passenger on the train, and is reported to have sustained back injuries in the collision.
The train concerned was the 10.10 Virgin service from London Euston to Chester. An inquiry has been launched and industry parties have been informed, including the Rail Accident Investigation Branch and the ORR Railway Inspectorate.
